About Debbie…

Debbie Reed is a well-respected accountant and business advisor, and a champion for privately owned businesses.

Modest and unassuming, Debbie offers high calibre advice, wrapped in genuine and down-to-earth client service. She strives to help her clients achieve their goals by applying her considerable knowledge and ultimately, by making what she describes as ‘a positive difference’ in both a personal and business sense.

The key to Debbie’s long and successful client relationships is her innate understanding that behind every great business is a living, breathing business person. Far from treating them as a mere extension of the business entity, Debbie provides each individual client with meaningful and personalised support. Offered in the form of solutions to problems and clear direction, this allows her clients to feel confident and rightfully entitled to peace of mind.

Debbie also understands that most people wish to simplify their lives. Many financial and tax matters are complicated, so Debbie’s goal is to handle the complexity for her clients so that they don’t have to.

For more than 20 years, Debbie honed her skills at PwC and its predecessor Coopers & Lybrand. There she developed the global insights and significant business knowledge that come from working with a Big 4 accounting firm. Debbie’s clients may feel secure in the knowledge that they enjoy ‘top end of town’ expertise with a personal touch.

Having joined DLA Partners in 2006, Debbie offers a comprehensive range of professional services that include strategic business advice, quality control, project and financial management, business sales, acquisitions and specialist taxation advice.

With vast technical knowledge and significant business and management experience, Debbie is a well-respected senior financial professional AND a much-valued sounding board.

She welcomes her clients’ ideas and pairs acute listening skills with a sense of practical realities.

Understanding that business and personal affairs commonly overlap, Debbie provides valuable guidance relating to appropriate structures for asset protection, SMSF and retirement planning and personal tax.

Skilled in delivering advice on more sensitive matters, Debbie supports and represents her clients’ financial best interests in matters that range from divorce property settlements to planning their estates.

Debbie’s clients are diverse. They include large and small enterprises across a broad range of business sectors. Notably, they share the common attributes of good character and a commitment to succeed both in business and in life. She describes her clients as those who are ‘living their values’, something that aligns perfectly with her own ethics and approach to business and daily life.

Personally…

Born in Rockhampton and raised in Central Queensland, Debbie grew up in her parents’ many and varied businesses. While dinner table discussions inevitably turned to the issues and challenges of the business at the time – earthmoving, pubs, service stations or at one stage, a Kodak Express shop – Debbie was also hands-on from a young age. No doubt this early immersion developed her acute business sense, balancing it perfectly with empathy and genuine concern for those who own and operate businesses.

An investigator and problem solver at heart, it stands to reason that cleverly written mystery is Debbie’s fiction of choice. Applauding both cricket and clarinet performances, Debbie is an involved mum.  She enjoys travelling with her husband and son. Together they explore destinations as diverse as Sydney, Palm Cove and Uluru and locations further afield including Europe, Canada and the US, New Zealand and Vanuatu.
