About Terry…

Terry Edwards is a successful, highly regarded business consultant with over 25 years of local and global business and accounting experience.

His technical expertise encompasses designing and implementing business strategies, tailoring ownership structures, resolving disputes and managing large projects in addition to personal taxation and compliance matters.

Terry’s clients include privately owned businesses, Australian subsidiaries of foreign entities, high wealth individuals, employees and professionals. They count on him for valuable insights and steady leadership, valuing both his determination and consistent focus on solutions. Terry offers a ‘big picture’ perspective whilst planning and executing practical and incremental strategies designed to deliver planned outcomes.

His input also extends to providing access to a network of aligned professionals with whom he has long associations and whom he trusts deeply for their ability to add value for his clients.

A self-confessed ‘people person’ who is well-known for his approachability, Terry effortlessly tailors his communication style to suit his clients. Whatever the circumstance – coordinating multiple stakeholders in large ventures or dealing one-on-one with a soon-to-be divorcee – Terry is sensitive to the nuances of a situation and the specific needs of his clients and their associates.

Terry prefers a challenge to the ‘run of the mill’ and particularly enjoys sizeable and multi-layered projects. Such a project began in 2015 when Terry was asked to work with a consortium of businesses involved in the development of a large solar farm in north west Queensland. Terry liaised closely with stakeholders from government, national and international entities regarding complex matters including funding, taxation structures, grants and more. As a natural leader with significant negotiation skills, Terry effectively pooled business resources and leveraged government grants for this one-of-a-kind undertaking.

However, Terry also draws satisfaction from smaller projects. He deftly guides entrepreneurs who are commonly ambitious but time-poor and who often have diversified interests. His depth and breadth of knowledge coupled with years of experience enable Terry to create clarity in technically complex business environments.

Terry’s accounting and business advisory career began with Coopers & Lybrand, which later transitioned to PwC. His 20-year tenure with the firm provided a wealth of opportunities and exposure to a broad spectrum of business and financial management situations both within Australia and when posted overseas.

As a director of DLA Partners, Terry oversees the firm’s human resources where his responsibilities include talent acquisition, performance reviews and staff counselling.

Personally…

Terry and his wife Kath have two sons, two daughters and two border collies. He thoroughly enjoys encouraging the children at their various activities, especially soccer, and is heavily involved with the Toowong Football Club. A keen fisherman, Terry likes nothing more than a day out on the water —especially if the seas are calm and the fish are biting. Interestingly, Terry’s dislikes include bureaucracy, apathy and zucchini.

Terry hopes to be remembered for having made a positive impact on the lives of his family, friends and colleagues.
