The Australian Government’s $50 million Manufacturing Modernisation Fund provides co-funded grants to upgrade manufacturing processes, and grow highly skilled workforces, through transformation in small and medium manufacturing businesses.

DLA assisted one of our clients with its successful grant application. Platypus Fishing has been supported with $96,000 for their Braided Fishing Line Manufacturing Modernisation Project.  The project will replace obsolete machinery, processes and materials with leading industry technology.

Platypus Fishing is one of only two manufacturers of braided fishing line in Australia and is purchasing machines not used elsewhere in Australia. It will install the new machines and train staff in the use.  Improved efficiency and effectiveness is the expected outcome.  The company expects substantial savings in energy consumption, with electricity cost savings of $20,000, targeted reduction of 19% in raw materials and manufactured goods wastage, increased revenue of $1,300,000 and employment of an additional of three full-time staff.

DLA identified the grant opportunity for Platypus Fishing and worked with the owner to ensure that the criteria for the grant application was met, ensuring the success of the submission.

Engaging DLA Partners and our professional project management team enabled our client to focus their energy on running their business and take care of essential day-to-day activities. The acquired funding has enabled their Braided Fishing Line project to be brought to fruition.
