BUT – before you enrol please make sure you read the updated fact sheets on the ATO website as there is a lot of detail and preparation you need to do before you start to enrol.

One of the things you will need is for your employees to complete and give to you the JobKeeper Nomination notice (refer to the link below).

There are also specific JobKeeper guides for the 3 types of employers – including those entities which have sole traders, partnerships, trusts and the like:

o   ATO JobKeeper Guide Sole Traders

o   ATO JobKeeper Guide Employers reporting through STP

o   ATO JobKeeper Guide Employers not reporting through STP

We also note for your information a basic 3-step timeline, listed below.

  1. Enrol

After 20 April 2020 you can enrol in JobKeeper (if you as an employer are eligible). If you are not eligible now but become eligible later you can enrol then.

  1. Confirm employees
  • If you use STP for payroll then prior to 30 April 2020 confirm which employees are eligible for JobKeeper
  • If you do not use STP for your payroll then you can confirm the employees who are eligible via the ATO system on and after 4 May 2020.

  1. Report

Each month using ATO systems you report the necessary information. For example, this will start on 4 May 2020.
